Acting
Course Overview:
- Tuning up the Instrument and Technique - Just as a Piano player has a piano as their main instrument, as actors, our body, voice, and emotions are ours. Knowing how to access one’s toolbox for the sake of the performance is essential, and knowing how to apply it is crucial.
- The importance of vulnerability - Vulnerability is just as important as knowing your character’s name. You can’t overlook it nor deny it. By being vulnerable, the performance immediately turns into authenticity.
- Character’s obligation - What does the character do in the scene? Is the character looking for something specific, and what is it? Does the character fight, make someone laugh or cry in the scene?
- Scene approach - What techniques can we tap into in order to approach different scenes? Understanding the scene and character's necessity
- Observation and awareness/the experimental actor - The unseen work an actor must consciously do 24/7
- Listening and reacting - The ABC of acting, whether it's in front of a camera or on stage. Listening to what and how it's being delivered gives us truth
- Being in touch with your senses - This has to be one the most important aspects of getting to know oneself, liking one's own emotions, and smartly using it for the benefit of the performance
- Technicalities of stage acting - Placing, Blocking, Voice, Diction, and Volume - are just some of the few key aspects of acting on stage
- The art of the self tape - Acing your self tape audition in this current era
- The Nervous Actor vs. The adrenaline fueled actor - Nerves come from a lack of confidence, reflecting one might not be fully prepared, knowledgeable of the part, concentrate or relaxed. All this disappears when the adrenaline fueled actor arises
